Iguazu has so much more to offer than strolling down walkways and staring at waterfalls! There are many activities through which you may discover the falls in a new and refreshing way. Some of these will even getting your adrenaline pumping! Uncover some of the most exhilarating adventure activities at Iguazu Falls:
Kayaking: Although you will be kayaking up the river and not near the falls, kayaking is the perfect way to experience the beauty of Iguazu. This area is rather peaceful, as you may kayak along a huge river with very few (if any) tourists around. Here, you will enjoy fantastic views of the riverbanks of Brazil and Argentina’s on either side!
Jet Boating: Adrenaline junkies, this one is for you! Not for the faint of heart, the thrilling Macuco jet boats speed right through the rapids, spinning in circles, making sharp turns, and even head straight into the falls for a “shower.” You will get soaked, so make sure you put your valuables in a plastic bag or even bring a change of clothes! This is the perfect way to experience the incredible power of the falls — you will feel the heaviness of the water pouring on top of you.
Rock Climbing and Rappelling: Looking for two more activities that will get your heart racing? Rock climbing and rappelling are great ways to embrace the adventurous side of Brazil and bask in the beautiful surroundings. Rappelling takes guts! You literally have to step off a platform and lower yourself along the cliff face down to the ground with a rope. Both rock climbing and rappelling will reward you with fabulous views of the falls.
Biking: This one is for the biking enthusiasts! If you want to discover the forests surrounding the falls, mountain biking is great option. You will cruise down paths through tropical forests and have close encounters with flora and fauna. This is a great way to travel off the beaten track without dealing with crowds surrounding the falls.
White-Water Rafting: The Macuco Safari is the most popular place for rafting in Iguazu! It will begin with an electric wagon tour of the forest. A guide will point out exotic plants and animals while sharing fascinating facts about the park. Once you arrive at the river, you will hop into rafts for an exhilarating ride down the white-water rapids. Your trip will end a few kilometers down the river where a driver will pick you up.
Helicopter Flight: Got a bit of extra cash to spend? A helicopter ride will give you an extraordinary bird’s-eye view of the waterfalls and too many unbelievable photo opportunities to count. This is the best way to see all 275 waterfalls at once and really appreciate the beauty of Iguazu. Your pilot will circle around to give you views from every angle. While the excursion may be expensive, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that is worth every penny!
